Lung Cancer Europe is the voice of people living with lung cancer and their families with lung cancer at European level. LuCE provides a European platform for lung cancer patient advocacy associations and networks and supports the establishment of national lung cancer patient groups in those European countries where such groups do not yet exist.
Overall Purpose
A Finance Coordinator responsible for supporting comprehensive financial management, including budgeting, reporting, invoicing, and contracts review, ensuring fiscal health and compliance with both organisational and supporter requirements. Your Key Responsibilities
- Budget Management: Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of the annual organisational and specific project/grant budgets. This includes tracking expenditures against approved budgets, investigating variances, and recommending corrective actions.
- Outsourced Accounting Interface: Liaise with LuCE’s external payroll and accounts provider, to obtain up‑to‑date financial information, clarify entries and ensure that all income and expenditure are correctly reflected in LuCE’s records.
- Financial Reporting: Review accurate and timely internal and external financial reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) prepared by Fiduria, and support the Head of Operations with mid‑term and year‑end financial reporting to the Board and donors
- Invoicing & Transaction Management: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring all transactions (invoices, expenses, payroll) are accurately recorded, properly archived, and processed in a timely manner.
- Contracts & Compliance: Review contracts, grant agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with financial requirements, donor regulations, and statutory laws. Maintain our internal tracking system for all contracts and grant payments.
- Auditing & Internal Controls: Help develop and maintain strong internal control systems and documented financial procedures to safeguard organisational assets.
- Financial Systems & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation, utilizing accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Dynamics 360) and advanced Excel skills for data management and reporting.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Experience: Prior experience (often 3-5+ years) in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the non-profit or INGO sector, with specific experience in grant management and donor reporting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial management software and strong analytical skills, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel usage. And experience with Monday.com or similar workflow tools
- Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to manage confidential data. Strong communication skills are also vital for collaborating with our internal and external stakeholders.
