Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) is currently recruiting an experienced Communications Manager to join our passionate and ambitious team to support us deliver our mission and goals. This is part time position engaging and developing our internal and external communication channels and will based remotely with flexible working hours of approximately 10-20  hrs /  week  initially with  the  possibility  of  increasing  up  to  36 hours  per week. Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2013 to provide a platform for lung cancer patient advocacy associations and networks at a European level.

Our vision is that all Europeans impacted by lung cancer will have equity in access to optimal care so that they have the best possible outcomes and quality of life.

Our mission is that LuCE is the voice of Europeans impacted by lung cancer. We collaborate with members and other stakeholders to destigmatise the disease and ensure that those impactad by lung cancer get the care they need to achieve the best possible outcomes. We empower members to ensure strong and effective lung cancer patient advocacy across Europe.

The Role of Communications Manager

In this important role you will be responsible for developing and executing the Lung Cancer Europe communication strategy  by developing communication activities necessary for us to deliver our yearly Action Plan, and our broad communications objectives of increasing awareness of lung cancer by driving engagement and further building and developing our online community.

Principle Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of the LuCE communication strategy in close collaboration with the executive board, executive officer, and project manager
  • Develop and activate an annual communications plan including tactics and budget that will enable LuCE to deliver our communication objectives across digital, social, and traditional media
  • Responsible for the development and management of LuCE’s social media channels, and reporting results, increasing following, and enhancing partner engagement
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics tracking the effectiveness of LuCE’s communications activities, utilizing measurement/analytics tools reporting on results
  • Grow LuCE’s online reputation and audience via social media and digital platforms by building community engagement online with affiliates and groups by managing and continuously updating the social media calendar, coordinating publicity of events, sharing, and responding to posts and developing discussions with followers
  • Develop SEO /SEM
  • Build and manage effective working relationships with external agencies, and LuCE stakeholders
  • Maintain, update and drive traffic to the LuCE website, and support database management

Technical Skills & Competency Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of professional experience in communications, including social media, digital engagement, and campaigning
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English (native or an equivalent level)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and manage social media accounts, including community building and engagement and the use of various communication tools and software
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills with ability to implement communications/marketing tactics, report results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of the basic of graphic design and experience in working with creative agencies for more comprehensive work
  • Skilled in campaign strategy development and working with design and publishing software including Google Ads and Analytics, with proficiency in WordPress, CMS, and website management

  • Strong influencing ability to be applied internally and externally with stakeholders
  • Proven time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to balance work on multiple projects simultaneously and to tight deadlines
  • Flexible approach and ability to work with an international team in a virtual setting
  • Possess and demonstrate confidence to work independently, driving projects and plans from beginning to end
  • High motivation, willingness to learn with a responsible, proactive attitude
  • Experience in patient advocacy, or non-profit healthcare associated organisations desired
  • Keen interest in the LuCE’s areas of activity (awareness, health policies, etc.)
  • Strong affinity with LuCE’s mission and its values: integrity, professionalism, respect, and accountability

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field marketing, business, or diploma in a related field preferred.

Renumeration

Competitive remuneration, consistent with experience for the right candidate. This is a part-time, fixed-term position with a contract term of one year including the potential for extension.
